Ruffy represents my third generation of champions. She is
the product of a breeding I had dreamed of for two
years before I had the nerve to approach her sire's owners on it.
This lovely bitch typifies the classic look of a
bygone era.
From her sire, the incomparable "Ace," Ruffian inherited tremendous
dignity, a fine clean eye, excellent body
length, and a perfect bite. Add this to her mother's lovely
head, freedom of movement and attitude, and what
resulted was a bitch with incredible ring presence and type, obvious
even as a juvenile.
Ruff was not able to match her mother Ticket's Best in Sweeps at
the North Central Regional Specialty but she
did show consistency by going BOS Puppy in Sweeps at that show one
year and, like her grandma Whimsey,
BOS overall in Sweeps the next year. She has been shown very
sparingly so far, but will make a few ring visits
in 2000 as a special.
Ruffian is a delight to live with and a pleasure to show. She
is gentle and beautiful, yet she also has her
mother's sense of humor and her grandmother's confidence.
She knows she is wonderful.
Ruffy was about the most gentle and dignified dog I have ever known.
Mother and grandmother of champions and a champion herself, she epitomized
the word "class". She was named after the greatest female race horse
that ever was, and she more than lived up to her namesake in quality.
