Tuba is retired and enjoying the easy life....

In Tuba's younger days, as a model and making it to the Cover...

Tuba in his last dog show in Illinois in July of 2004.
Tuba hated to be stacked like he was a "show dog".....
He still took Veterans Sweeps and an Award of Merit

Tuba took Winner's Dog, his son, Alamo took Winner's Dog and
his first liver and tan grandson, Tank took Winner's Dog.

Tuba is the resident clown here at Citation Kennels.  He came to me at eleven weeks of age and we bonded
instantly.  It was impossible to resist the soft hazel eyes of this liver boy, not to mention the silly sweetness of his
personality.

An extremely happy fellow, Tuba throws himself at life.  He doesn't know the meaning of "moderation" so
handling him in the show ring has been a challenge to say the least.  I can't get him to hold a decent stack for
more than a nanosecond because he is too busy goofing around.  Fortunately, all that energy and animation and
spirit come together in a breathtaking side gait.

Tuba finished his championship at 15 months and even managed a group placement a week later, while still all
feet and legs.  Then he took a hiatus from showing to mature a little and maybe even grow a brain!

In spite of my inept handling, Tuba recently had the honor of being selected for a Judge's Award of Merit at the
1999 ABC National Specialty.  Several photos of him (moving, of course) can be seen on the inside cover of the
Winter 2000 Bulletin.  He also was Veterans Grand Sweeps winner and received a Judge's Award of Merit at the 2004 North Central Specialty in Dekalb, Illinois. He is a true character!
